Teen Service 1-25-12

We had a great night in our teen service last night!   If so thankful for the opportunity the Lord has given me to work with the teens at Victory.  We looked last night in Luke 5:1-11 and saw several things that will hinder/keep us from reaching our potential for the Lord.

1. Allowing our Flesh to Control us – Peter had been fishing all night and was no doubt exhausted.  It would have been much easier and comfortable to give into the flesh yet he chose to follow the Lord’s leading.

2. Failure to do the Little Things – Jesus jumps on to Peter’s boat and asks him to thrust out a “little” then asks him to thrust out into the deep.  If Peter had not been faithful in the little things he never would have experienced the great miracle that took place.

3. Half Way or Half Heartedly Obeying the Lord – Jesus told Peter to let down the nets yet Peter only let down a net.  God still blessed, a miracle was still performed, but God wanted to do so much more on that day.

4. Failure to Forsake Certain Things – After this miracle Peter, James and John forsook all and followed Christ.

If we are to reach our full potential for the Lord we mush not allow our flesh to control us, do the little things,  fully obey, and be willing to forsake.

Teen Service 11/2/11

Tonight we had Missionary Chris Waye to preach for us.  He did a great job speaking on boldness and challenging our teens to take a greater stand for the Lord.  Chris is one my best friends and it’s so exciting to see the working of God in his life.  We also had Tyler Payne share some thoughts with us and five teens compete against one another to finish their “insane” sauce covered fries first.  It’s such a joy to serve the Lord at Victory and I’m so thankful for the opportunity to work with the teens of Victory!

VFL 2011

We just completed our annual Victory Football League this past Sunday.  Each Fall for four Sunday afternoons our teens have a blast playing football between services.  We had about 50 players this year and six different teams, three of them were from our church.  Our teams played strong and came in first, second, and third places.  Congratulations to Steven, Clayton, Kasey, Matt, Ben, Stephen, and Kaleb on being the 2011 VFL Champions!

Youth Explosion 2011

Last Friday night we had a blast at our annual Youth Explosion event!  Over 290 were here at the church as we played “The Price is Right” and other crazy games to kick off the night.  Our speaker for the evening was Bro. Tony Howeth from Newton County Baptist Church and what an incredible job he did!  Bro. Tony is one of my favorite preachers and he is greatly used by the Lord every time I hear him. We left the church around 12 AM and headed to Malibu Grand Prix in Norcross for the rest of the evening.  There we had basketball and dodgeball tournaments, go-carts, arcade, putt-putt, and bumper boats before heading back to Victory at 7AM.  I want to thank each person who helped as well as those who donated items for the evening.  What a joy it is to serve the Lord!

Teen Service 9/7/11

We continued in our “Digging Through Daniel” series last night and looked at a “God that revealeth secrets.”  Nine times in chapter 2 we see the word “secret” found and God himself was the only one who could reveal it.

A secret is something unknown or unseen by others.  Nebuchadnezzar and his men could not reveal the dream or the meaning of the dream he had.  From simple everyday decisions to major life decisions, there are unknown things in each of our lives that we must have the Lord’s help and guidance in.  What type of person does God typically reveal his secrets to? Those who…

I. Ask Him To Show v.17-18

II. Act Upon What They Are Told – v. 24- & chapter 1

III. Acknowledge He Is The Source v. 20-23, 28

We also had a challenging thought from Steven Ayers and last week we had one from Matt Sewell.  I’m proud of theses guys and thankful for their willingness to open God’s Word and speak in front of their peers.

Kenny Baldwin 8/26/11

We had a blast last night as we went to Heritage Baptist in Locust Grove to hear Kenny Baldwin preach.  He’s a favorite preacher for many of our teens and he delivered a powerful message as always. He spoke from 1 Chronicles 4 on Jabez and challenged our teens in a tremendous way.

Braves Game 2011

We had a great time last night as thirty of us went on our annual trip to Turner Field to watch the Atlanta Braves play.  It was an enjoyable trip as the Braves took care of business.

Braves 4, Diamondbacks 2
